Emirati astronaut Hazzaa Al Mansoori has shared a stunning picture of the UAE and surrounding countries from aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
The crystal clear image was shared by the 34-year-old on his Twitter account. There is no mistaking the outline of the UAE, with the blue waters of the Arabian Gulf and just spots of cloud cover over the more mountainous regions in neighbouring countries.
Dressed for the occasion! Delighted for the opportunity to share part of our Emirati culture with the crew aboard the ISS. pic.twitter.com/r7sZoRwS89

He tweeted: “From the happiest astronaut to the happiest nation…this is history, this is the UAE from space.”
On much closer inspection, the outline of Palm Jumeirah can even be spotted.

It marked another momentous day for Al Mansoori, the first Emirati in space, aboard the ISS as he donned his traditional attire, the Emirati kandura, and was pictured with his fellow astronauts.
Al Mansoori took off from the Russain-leased Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Wednesday, September 25 and is due to return to earth on Thursday (October 3) at one of three sites in Kazakhstan at about 4pm UAE time.
