INJAZ UAE, a member of Junior Achievement Worldwide, and Tejar Dubai have announced the winners of their Annual Company Programme Competition at a special award ceremony hosted by the Dubai Chamber.
The student entrepreneurial project of team Avalanche from the Higher Colleges of Technology was awarded with the Best Student Company of the Year Award, beating more than 100 students and eight teams from across the UAE.
The Avalanche team will compete in the regional round at the ‘INJAZ Al-Arab Company Competition 2015’, taking place in Oman in November this year.
Attending the ceremony, HE Majid Saif Al Ghurair, the Chamber’s chairman, handed the CEO of the Year Award to Maid4you.ae; the Best Marketing Plan award to the aptly titled Best Marketing Plan; The Most Innovative Idea Award to WaitFREE; and The Product with Greatest Social Impact Award to Flying Doctor.
Speaking about the competition, Essa Al Zaabi, senior vice-president at Dubai Chamber, and general coordinator of Tejar Dubai, an initiative of the Dubai Chamber, said: “Dubai Chamber’s partnership with INJAZ UAE to expand entrepreneurship education in Dubai is bearing fruits now as is evident from the number of participants and award winners who have come up with very creative ideas which they can build upon for their future entrepreneurial projects.”
The Annual Company Program Competition aims at enabling participants to experience the entrepreneurial cycle and learn what it takes to start a business. During 12 to 15 weeks students were mentored by 18 volunteers from sponsoring partners including Shell, Citi, Accenture and Barclays.
