Startup hub Zain Innovation Centre inaugurated in Kuwait

Zain Group CEO Bader Al Kharafi said the centre will link entrepreneurs with angel investors and large technology companies

Mobile telecom giant Zain Group, which operates across eight markets in Middle and Africa, has announced the opening of its Zain Innovation Center (ZINC) in Kuwait.

Located in the Zain Head Offices, it is part of the company’s youth empowerment initiative led by vice chairman and group CEO Bader Al-Kharafi.

The co-working hub aims to encourage youth entrepreneurship and help build the country’s overall startup ecosystem.

ZINC Kuwait’s inauguration ceremony saw the attendance of the minister of commerce and industry, Khaled Al-Roudhan.

Aside from acting as a co-working hub, it will provide aspiring entrepreneurs and startups access to experts in various fields and advice from mentors in the region and across the globe, including from Zain personnel and technology partners.

Chief executive Al-Kharafi said ZINC will link entrepreneurs with angel investors and large technology companies, enhancing Kuwait’s position as a hub for the incubation of startups in the region.

ZINC was first launched in Jordan, where it has succeeded in the development and launch of innovative ideas by entrepreneurs. It has welcomed prominent visitors including Amazon’s Jess Bezos and Queen Rania of Jordan.
