Union Coop plans to expand its retail operations with six new branches in the next two years, with a view to opening more across the emirate in the future, pending discussions with the local authority.

The first two of those confirmed new branches will open before the end of this year, with the remain four expected to open in the next two years, according to Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi, CEO of Union Coop.

“Union Coop is conducting discussions in coordination with the Dubai Municipality to choose 17 new locations to expand its operations in Dubai markets,” Al Falasi said in a media statement.

“The new branches will keep pace with the increasing consumer demand in Dubai markets, and they will double their stock of various commodities by next year,” he added.

Loyalty programme

Union Coop’s loyalty programme Tamayaz, which offers cardholders discounts in the cooperative, has so far reached up to 800,000 thousand customers, he revealed, representing 89% of the total sales in the Union Coop branches.

The Tamayaz card is divided into two categories – Tamayaz Gold Card which is dedicated to shareholders, with 36,000 cards issued, while the rest of the cards are silver Category and are available to all customers.

Smart services

He said Union Coop management has plans to increase the smart services provided to customers through its mobile phone app, which was launched at the beginning of this year, by providing an electronic bill system that allows the customer to monitor shopping frequency and consumption during a whole month, and thereby help to organise the spending process for customers.

“Union Coop during the coming year aims to add new benefits to customers, which include providing monthly and weekly comparisons on the purchase of customers and monitoring indicators of increase or decrease in spend,” Al Falasi said.
