The cost of recruiting housemaids in Saudi Arabia is expected to drop by around 20 percent, according to several recruitment offices in the kingdom.
The drop was attributed to the anticipated signing of new agreements between Saudi Arabia’s labour ministry and the African countries of Somalia, Ethiopia, Guinea and Chad.
This will offer citizens the opportunity of hiring housemaids from a wider choice of countries, Saudi Gazette said, citing a report in Arabic daily newspaper Al Madina.
Yahya Al Maqbool, chairman of the recruitment committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) reportedly agreed the new agreements would lower the cost of recruitment.
The agreements are part of a series of measures being taken by the Saudi ministry to streamline foreign manpower recruitment.
