Qatar’s ruler is to visit Saudi Arabia and India for bilateral talks, it was reported on Monday.
Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani will visit Saudi Arabia today to hold talks with King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. During the one-day visit, the two leaders will discuss bilateral ties and common interests, it was confirmed on Sunday.
Sheikh Hamad is also expected to travel to India, where he will lead a high profile delegation and large gas export and trade investment deals are expected to be signed.
The Qatari ruler previously visited India in May 2005 and since then India’s bilateral trade with Qatar has grown four-fold from US$1.2bn in 2005 to US$4.6bn in 2010, Gulf Times reported.
Officials also reported that the Qatar Investment Authority, the state’s sovereign wealth fund, was looking for investment opportunities in India.
