Dubai is hosting the first edition of business-focused World Corporate Summit (WCS), taking advantage of the international draw of Qatar’s World Cup in November.
The event, which will run from November 21 to December 16, will comprise of invite-only discussions “on changing industry dynamics, challenges, and opportunities” with an overarching theme of sports, according to its website.
It is part of the VIP World Cup Dubai Programme, which is a comprehensive strategy to attract thousands of companies in the growing sports sector.
“The VIP World Cup Dubai Programme will bring together decision-makers from the global top 5,000 companies, major investment funds, football sponsors, football clubs and leagues to deliberate on pressing universal and sector-specific issues and build partnerships that will shape the future of the global economy,” Bernard Caiazzo, president of the WCS, said as reported by WAM.
Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, which is a major sponsor of the summit, said mega-events like the World Cup are “a unique opportunity to drive investment but also allows us to host business leaders to exchange ideas that can bring positive change to the global economy.”
“The World Corporate Summit, I believe, will be a great platform to elevate Dubai’s position as the destination for business and luxury, as well as to create partnerships, enter deals, and discuss plans for the future of business,” Ahmed Al Khaja (above), chief executive officer of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, an agency of the tourism department, said.
