Dubai leaders have approved a new social benefit scheme worth AED44 million ($11.97 million) for People of Determination in the emirate.
Its ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Dubai’s crown prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum approved the new scheme, following a host of social benefits to other Emirati citizens in recent weeks.
“We are seeking to further enhance all services provided to our citizens as part of achieving our goal of providing them with the highest quality of life possible,” Sheikh Hamdan said, as cited by WAM.
The social scheme will benefit People of Determination below the age of 60, who have physical or mental impairments, the report said.
The benefits include fees for kindergarten, schools, and university programmes, training and rehabilitation centres, as well as the costs of providing shadow teachers, caregivers, personal assistants, and sign language interpreters.
It also includes provision for assistive devices and technologies, transportation, and the costs of making the workplace conducive to People of Determination.
The UAE government has recently been announcing social welfare packages, including massive housing payouts and inflation allowances that cover fuel, food, and utility costs.
