A private company in Abu Dhabi has been fined AED10 million by the Misdemeanor Court for breaching Emiratisation regulations, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) reported.

The company was found to have appointed 113 Emirati citizens “ficticiously” to circumvent Emiratisation targets. The ministry discovered these violations during an investigation and referred the case to the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution.

Prosecutors uncovered that the company had issued work permits and registered employees without providing actual employment, violating the ‘Nafis‘ programme’s policies. The programme aims to increase Emirati participation in the private sector.

Following the investigation, the emirate’s Public Prosecution brought the case before the court, which convicted the company and imposed a fine.
