Danube Group founder and chairman Rizwan Sajan is among the first foreign nationals to receive a 10-year UAE residence visa, according to Danube Group.

Sajan, who came to the UAE in 1991, received his 10-year visa from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai.

“This is a great moment as we have been waiting for this for a long time,” Sajan said. “This is a beginning of a new chapter in the UAE economy as it further liberalises the economy to attract more investment.”

The 10-year visas are part of a package of economic reforms, which also included 100 percent foreign ownership of companies in some sectors, and a more recent permanent residency programme announced several weeks ago.

In a statement, Sajan said that the “game-changing” developments will “re-define our relationship with this wonderful land of opportunities.”

“This is a great moment not only for me but for millions of foreigners living in this country,” Sajan added. “I’m sure the scope of these initiatives will expand gradually to include more investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, philanthropists, innovators and highly-skilled professionals.”

Sajan added that “these are exciting times and these new reforms will make the UAE a entre of attraction for human talents.”
