North London’s second team moved up three places in the Money League, with record total revenues of $198m.

Increases in broadcast ($10.7m) and commercial ($4.4m) revenue were partially offset by a decrease in matchday income ($4.3m) due to the club playing two fewer home games in 2009/2010 than the previous season. Matchday revenue is also constrained by its 36,240 capacity stadium, with income per home game averaging a mere $2.4m. The club is currently looking at plans to build a new stadium and expand capacity.

A strong on pitch performance helped Spurs secure a fourth place finish in the Premier League, pushing broadcasting income up by $10.7m to $82.5m, despite the club playing no European football during the year.

Commercial revenue increased by $4.48m to $50.4m, with deals signed for dual shirt sponsors, Autonomy for the Premier League and Investec for all domestic and European cup matches. The deals are reportedly worth $16m and $4m per season respectively. The club’s deal with kit supplier Puma is reportedly worth $8m annually, and is set to run to the end of the 2010/2011 season.

Participation in the Champions League could provide Tottenham with the springboard it needs to break into the top ten of the 2012 edition of the Money League, with Liverpool, Juventus and Manchester City not featuring in the competition till 2011/2012.
