Internazionale

Despite being 2009/2010 treble winners and growing revenue to $304.3m, Internazionale lurk in ninth spot on the Money League table, sandwiched between the strife torn Liverpool and Juventus.

Inter’s coffers were boosted by $30m in 2009/2010 largely due to their victorious Champions League campaign, which earned the club $66m in UEFA central distributions. The $186.6m generated by broadcast revenue were the fourth highest amongst the Money League clubs, bettered only by Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan. However, like the neighbours they share a stadium with, the club faces a challenge to maintain this level in 2011, given the return to collective selling of Serie A broadcast rights.

The club’s unprecedented success saw matchday revenues of $52.2m, a $14m increase on 2008/2009. However, matchday revenue still only accounts for 17 percent of the club’s total revenue and will need to be grown further if Inter are to climb higher in the Money League.

Commercial revenue decreased to $65.3m, a $5.8 million reduction due to a fall in revenue from kit sponsors Nike and other general sponsors. Despite being partially offset by a $5.14m increase in the shirt sponsorship deal with Prielli, Inter’s 2009/2010 commercial revenue was only the fourteenth highest amongst the Money League clubs.

A disappointing first half of the domestic season means that the club faces a struggle to emulate its 2009/2010 feats this season and climb higher in 2012’s Money League table.
