Nearly 60 years after arriving in Dubai, Ram Buxani’s outlook is as positive as ever. He knew 2016 was going to be a difficult year, but he remains optimistic about the future. The man in charge of one of the biggest and oldest companies in the UAE has seen it all. His businesses deal in textiles, home appliances and electronics as well as information technology.
ITL Cosmos Group represents such global brands as Sharp and Fujitsu Siemens, and has more than 500 dealers in the UAE and Oman. In Dubai, risks come with rewards, Buxani said. He explained all in his recent autobiography, titled Taking the High Road (the Arabic edition “Al Sair fi al Tareeq al Sariya” was released in February). In it, he shares his experiences about his life in the UAE and his incredible journey. He knows that success is about leadership as much as anything, and he shares what he has learnt from the highest levels of government.
Dubai was built with everyone in mind, Emiratis and foreigners, he said in his book. When Buxani first arrived in Dubai, the country did not have electricity. But he has prospered as much as the emirate, and both will continue to move forward. “Success is a habit, and Dubai proves the truth in this golden adage,” he said.
