Sudesh Aggarwal

Company: GRP Industries

Designation: Chairman

Sudesh K Aggarwal moved to the UAE in November 1975, and started his own business in 1979. By 1989, he had established Giant Reinforced Plastic (GRP) Industries. Today, under his leadership, the company is one of the most successful in the Middle East.

The story that is often repeated about Aggarwal is that he was the first Indian in Sharjah to own a Rolls-Royce. It is an old story, but is worth repeating because it shows what hard work and good luck can mean.

GRP was born by seeing an opportunity to provide a solution to Dubai’s growing infrastructure needs. In more than 25 years, GRP has manufactured kiosks for Dubai International Airport and expanded into the Indian market.

Today, Aggarwal is on the board of the new Business Leaders Forum (BLF), which seeks to enhance UAE-India trade, economic and investment relations. BLF looks to facilitate the formation of AED1bn ($272m) investment consortium. He said it was formed to strengthen two traditional allies in trade and commerce and it would act as a platform for interaction between the Indian and UAE businessmen as well as high-level government officials.
