Don’t underestimate frozen food. Technically, it is what made Suresh Subberwal a millionaire. The chairman of mega retailer Al Kabeer Group saw an opportunity in the distribution of more than 300 products, from meat and poultry, to fish, vegetables and spices.
To cater to specific customer needs in different markets, the retail tycoon uses different brand names for his products, such as Samurai in Japan and Tayebat El Emarat in the UAE. Today, his group is a multi-dimensional, multi-product business, with offices and processing units in more than 15 countries.
And Subberwal does not seem to be slowing down either, having grown his net worth by tens of millions of dollars for several years now. He is reportedly against venturing into businesses foreign to him and prefers to stick to industries he understands well.
