Paras Shahdadpuri has created from scratch a global electronics brand that competes with the biggest Japanese and Korean names. The former diplomat, who fled with his family to Mumbai during the partition, says he knew nothing about electrical goods when he started in 1988.
Now, Dubai-based Nikai Group boasts more than 400 products across home entertainment, appliances and whitegoods sold in 60 countries. As disposable income and urbanisation rise, so too does Nikai’s fortunes. The company is also closely keeping up with the increasing use of smart technology, which is being incorporated in even the most basic home appliances, he says.
The company claims to have increased revenues every year.
Shahdadpuri is also a former president of the Indian Business and Professional Council.
