KP Kalwani’s first ventures were in manufacturing, where he is still a huge player overseeing International Poly Industries and Show Racks Factory. But the diversified group he founded more than two decades ago has since grown into a massive operation spanning five business sectors, with about 3,500 employees across the Middle East. In retail, it has brands such as Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Grab and Lily, and five malls, including Century Mall in Dubai and Safeer Mall in Sharjah.
It is also active in real estate, with developments including the Safeer Tower, Safeer Mall and Sleep Ezee factory. It supports those cyclical industries by maintaining its operations in manufacturing and trading.
For example, Show Racks Trading provides in-store display solutions for retailers, and freezers and chillers for supermarkets, butchers, ice cream parlours and storage warehouses.
