Universal Studios was to be the cornerstone of Dubailand,
the emirate’s theme park and entertainment development set to be twice the size
of Walt Disney World Resort.
In July 2008, the seven million sq ft Universal Studios
Dubailand broke ground and a completion date was set for December 2010 for the
first phase.
But the massive project was one of the first casualties of the
Dubai real estate collapse in late-2008, and the size and scale of the suspended
development is now under review.
Master developer Dubai Properties Group told Arabian
Business in May it was in talks with developers to get the project back on
track by the year-end.
