Qatar Insurance Group (QIC) — the country’s oldest and largest insurer — was founded in 1964. The Qatari government helped launch the firm via its 12 percent stake, a position that it still holds today. Given Qatar’s massive natural resource assets, it’s no surprise that one of QIC’s main areas of expertise lies in insurance related to energy exploration, processing and production, both on and offshore. QIC’s clients include Qatargas, Halliburton, Qatar Airways and Saudi Aramco.
