Five years after ending Ooredoo’s telecoms monopoly in the country, Vodafone Qatar is edging closer to breaking even for the first time. It posted a narrow net loss of $7.5m in the second quarter, less than 25 percent of the loss reported in the same quarter last year. Revenue grew by 27 percent, while its customer base now stands at 1.35 million, an 18 percent rise on the same quarter a year earlier. It looks likely that the firm will be profitable either in the third or final quarter of this year.
