Qatar’s fourth-biggest bank is led by Briton Andrew Stevens, a former Standard Chartered executive. The lender operates retail and wholesale divisions, and also has partnerships with other banks and finance institutions across the Gulf. CBQ posted a 3 percent decline in net profit during the third quarter to $138m, slightly under analysts’ expectations. The lender has also been active in pursuing overseas assets; last year, it bought a 71 percent stake in Turkey’s Alternatifbank from Anadolu Endustri Holding. It paid two-times book value for the Turkish firm, which was then delisted.
