Like his Lebanese peers, Abed Mahfouz has made it big in the world of fashion. His haute couture designs have gained both regional and international acclaim.
Born in 1956, Mahfouz has graduated with a degree in electrical engineering but developed a passion for fashion upon assisting his sister with her tailor work in 1985. By the early nineties, his creativity became more evident as it took on the form of full-scale collection designing.
His breakthrough came in 1999 when he launched his first collection of wedding dresses at the Royal Plaza Hotel in Beirut. The rest was history. From then onwards, Mahfouz launched one show after the other, showcasing his wedding dresses and night gowns.
Mahfouz made it big on an international level when he showcased his haute coutoure evening attires and wedding dresses in the International fashion Week in Rome in 2003. Ever since, Mahfouz has continuously showcased his collections every year at Rome’s Altaroma Altamoda festival. His latest Spring-Summer 2008 fashion show, attende by a number of celebrities, was celebrated for innovation and recongnised as a big hit in the Italian capital.
