Aside from his work as a support and contracts manager at Dubai World, Krishnamurthy Kumar is perhaps best known for his charitable side. For many Indian expatriates facing financial meltdown, Kumar is often regarded as the last port of call. His long history of community work began with an association with the Indian Sports Club in Dubai, as well as the local Indian High School. But his real claim to fame came when he set up the Indian Community Welfare Committee (ICWC), which is supported by the Indian Consulate. The ICWC offers a wide range of services to expats, including shelter for destitute women, assistance to those requiring kidney transplants and help for Indians held in local prisons. Kumar has also been instrumental in the launch of the Indian Consulate’s online consular services in the emirate.
