Elekta
Gulf is a UAE-based firm
that owns and markets more than 200 types of home and electronic appliances to
35 countries around the world. Managing director Rajan Mathrani has high hopes
for the next few years, and no wonder – his firm saw product sales increase
from 1.4m to 1.8m in 2009, at a time when regional retail markets were facing a
heavy battering. The executive has overseen Elekta’s startling growth since its
original launch in Japan
in 1988. Growth in Eastern Europe, the CIS and the rest of the world’s emerging
economies led to Mathrani’s decision to switch bases to Dubai in the 1990s. It’s a decision that has
left Elekta sitting pretty – its current turnover is around $125m, but Mathrani
says this will increase to $200m in three years time.
