Sanjiv Mehta was appointed as chairman for Unilever North Africa and Middle East in March 2008 and is based in Dubai. In the retail fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector for over twenty years, he was previously chairman of Unilever’s operations in the Philippines and in Bangladesh. He has been with Unilever for the past 17 years, and has extensive international experience of which eight years has been in the Middle East. He is a qualified chartered accountant and he holds an Advance Management Programme qualification from the prestigious Harvard Business School. Unilever is one of the worlds leading suppliers of consumer goods, covering household brands such as Lipton, Knorr, Dove, Lux, Ponds, Axe, Sunsilk, Vaseline, Rexona and Omo. It has invested over $50m over the last few years in the region and its operation in the MENA region has a turnover of around $1.4bn and employs around 3,000 staff.
