In inexpensive restaurants, cafés and bars 5-10 percent tips are not necessary, but are appreciated. In luxury restaurants, tip 10 percent to 15 percent.
It is also customary to tip hotel staff, porters, hairdressers and musicians. The amount is your choice, but the norm is 2 Lira ($1) per person.
Tipping is preferred in Lira or foreign notes but not coins which are difficult to exchange.
Taxi drivers do not normally expect a tip, but it’s acceptable to round up the fare if you wish.
