Lama Younis founded the UAE-based Hissah Enrichment Centre in 2013. The centre’s mission is to enrich interpersonal skills, develop personal empowerment, and improve social relationships on the personal and professional levels for adults, youth and children across the GCC.
Younis aspires to forge, guide and support a commitment by families and nations to prevent child abuse, ensuring every child grows up in a secure and healthy environment. As a children’s rights activist, she founded the The Lama Campaign, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to ensuring the protection and well-being of children and youth through education and awareness on child abuse in all its forms through prevention programs, public awareness, training and advocacy.
Younis completed her counselling psychology studies at Effat University in Saudi Arabia in 2005. She obtained a master’s degree in criminology and forensic psychology from Middlesex University in London and later on a PhD in International Childhood Studies from the University of London.
