Hassan Damluji was appointed as Deputy Director, Global Policy & Advocacy at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation after having served as the head of Middle East relations where he supported the foundation’s mission in the region by managing partnerships. He currently manages a globally dispersed team responsible for policy and advocacy.
He is an expert in education reform, international development and corporate management and has recently authored a book called The Responsible Globalist, published in 2019.
He is also the co-founder of the One Degree Academy, a school in North London, and member of the European board of the Education for Employment Foundation.
He earned a Master in Arts degree in Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University in 2008 where he was a Von Clemm Fellow. He also graduated from the University of Oxford with a Bachelor of Arts in Classics and Arabic.
