She’s headed the Traffic and Roads Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) since it was established in 2005, supervising the planning, design and infrastructure operations, having managed AED3.5bn worth of projects every year. The CEO, who holds a BA in Civil Engineering from Kuwait University and Master’s Degree in Mobility Engineering from Newcastle University, initially began her career as a roads engineers before moving onto the role of director of roads. She then managed the design and execution of projects including The Floating Bridge, the SALIK toll gates and more recently the Dubai Canal.

The awards honoured the region’s top chief executives who have delivered outstanding results, as well as those that have made a vital contribution to the vibrancy of business across the region.
In May, as part of RTA’s endeavors to provide smart services in the city, the authority rolled out a smart parking system initiative at Al Rigga and Dubai World Centre parking slots along the extension of Sheikh Zayed Road. About 2,030 ground sensors and 70 overhead digital cameras had been installed together with a central control system covering 3,035 parking slots to provide instant information about vacant parking spaces in covered zones. The new service enables motorists to quickly identify vacant parking slots either through the Find Parking service on the RTA App, or 13 electronic message boards.
Bin Adai said the system involves sophisticated technologies like ground sensors and digital cameras which monitor the usage of parking through detecting vacant slots and instantly transmit information to the central system for display onto the information signs and the smart app.
In September, the RTA also took measures to ease traffic congestion around schools, having commissioned about 251 surveys at school areas and carried out several safety measures which resulted in 849 directional signs being erected as well as 160 traffic calming devices and 36 pedestrian crossings.
Bin Adai said at the time, “Dubai Traffic Safety Strategy dedicates considerable weight to the mobility of students in terms of improving the safety of pedestrians or diffusing sound traffic culture amongst drivers. Students-oriented awareness efforts at the start of the new academic year are an integral part of the Back-to-School campaign of Ministry of Interior.”
