Badr Al Olama heads Aerospace and Defence at Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), which includes in its current portfolio Strata Manufacturing PJSC (Strata), Turbine Services and Solutions (TS&S), Sanad Aero Solutions (Sanad), and Emirates Defence Industries Company (EDIC). Al Olama is the chairman of Strata, TS&S and Sanad, and is a board director at EDIC, the UAE Space Agency, Oumolat Security Printing, TASIAP GmbH and a number of automotive joint ventures in Algeria that manufacture Daimler and Rheinmetall vehicles.
Al Olama leads the organising committee for the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) – a pioneering collaborative platform that has been jointly established by the UAE and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). Through GMIS, Al Olama also oversees the Mohammed Bin Rashid Initiative for Global Prosperity – an open innovation platform that seeks to solve real world challenges and recognise the exemplary demonstration of corporate social responsibility by global manufacturers.
Prior to his current engagements, Al Olama was the CEO of Strata, president of the UAE Harvard Club, and a member of the UAE Ministerial Council on the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He also led the strategic development of Nibras Al Ain Aerospace Park, a joint initiative between Mubadala and Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), which aims to establish a sustainable aerospace ecosystem in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
Nominated as a Young Global Leader for the MENA region by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2016, Al Olama began his career as a lawyer at Habib Al Mulla & Company (currently known as Baker & McKenzie Habib Al Mulla). He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sharia and Law from the UAE University (2002), and an LLM Degree from Harvard Law School (2005).
