A trained industrial engineer and a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair heads one of Dubai’s largest banks and is himself one of the world’s 500 richest men.
He joined Mashreq Bank in 1977, the bank his father founded during the Gulf’s first oil boom in the 1960s. He was appointed CEO in 1991, and then chairman of the UAE Banking Federation, vice chairman of the higher board of DIFC and chairman of Oman Insurance.
