The CEO and trustee of the Emirates Literature Foundation, Abulhoul began her career in the UAE as a teacher and founder of Al Ittihad School, before going on to launch famed Dubai bookstore chain Magrudy’s in 1975. A celebrated expat, Abulhoul has spent more than 40 years in the UAE sharing her love for books and education. Her service to the art of writing and her passion for promoting reading among youth has been recognised by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and was also awarded an OBE by the British government in 2012.
Abulhoul is also is the director of the internationally acclaimed Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. In it’s 11th year, the Festival is largest event of its kind in the region, and widely considered among the most important held in the Middle East. It’s latest edition takes place this month.
