Al-Munajjed is Saudi Arabia’s foremost sociologist and women’s rights activist and the the author of three published books: Women in Saudi Arabia Today, Significance of Arabic Names for Girls in the Arab World, and Saudi Women Speak. She has spent nearly two decades advising agencies including the International Labour Office, the UN International Children’s Fund, and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia.

Al-Munajjed’s work has seen her formulate several social development projects aimed at activating the economic and educational role of women in Saudi Arabia. In 2005, she was recognised with the United Nations’ 2005 UN-21 Award for her work with the Kingdom’s NGOs. Al Munajjed has a bachelor’s degree from American University in Beirut, a master’s from NYU in sociology, as well as  a doctorate from George Washington University in Washington DC.
