Jade Robertson began her career with Austin Macauley Publishers in London in 2012 as an assistant editor. In less than half a decade she rose through the ranks demonstrating considerable prowess in the management of the publishing and creation process, growing the firm’s online and offline advertising, and developing its internal systems until she was appointed in 2016 to be the firm’s international publishing director, overseeing the UK and all emerging markets.
That’s when Austin Macauley’s growth skyrocketed. Since its opening in January 2017, its New York and London office combined have seen growth by 330% through various business development, exhibition strategy and marketing efforts.
Robertson has also initiated business development plans to sell further translation rights of books in a range of countries including China, Europe and Mexico. Due to the substantial growth in the publishing world within the UAE, the firm decided on an office in Sharjah Publishing City which saw revenue growth rates of 470% in the first quarter and 60% in the second quarter of 2018. Robertson’s entrepreneurial status and leadership have also led her being nominated for the Publisher’s Weekly Star Watch award in 2018 and for the Arabian Business Start-up Awards last year as well, first of their kind achievements for the firm.
Robertson is an active thought leader within the publishing industry, appearing in conferences, and constantly networking with potential collaborators at the highest level, from printers and international distributors to administrators and government officials. Her next steps include opening another office in Australia later this year and helping Austin Macauley cement its global status among industry and customers alike.
