Abdel Fattah is an award-winning author and human rights and anti-racism activist.
Born in Australia to Palestinian and Egyptian parents, she wrote her first book – a novel based on Roald Dahl’s Matilda – when she was in sixth grade. A celebrated author and commentator today, her 2006 book Does My Head Look Big in This (a story revolving around a 16-year-old Muslim girl who decides to wear the hijab) won the Australian Book of The Year Award.
