Raed Barqawi is the long serving editor-in-chief of Al Khaleej. The daily Arabic broadsheet was the first ever daily newspaper published in the UAE, having been launched by Taryam Omran in 1970.
After closing down two years later, it was relaunched in 1979. Under Barqawi, it has become one of the most popular newspapers in the country. He was one of the contributors to the 2018 Arab Youth Survey and is a frequent commentator on regional affairs.
