Sudanese-born Mo Ibrahim set up two telcos: Mobile Systems International and Celtel International, one of Africa’s leading mobile phone companies, which he sold for $3.4bn in 2004.
He has used that money and influence to improve Africa, speaking out on issues from governance and corruption to education, employment and sustainable development. His foundation provides education scholarships for young Africans and rewards responsible leaders through the annual Ibrahim Prize.
