In 1998, Farid Chedid founded Chedid Re, the Group’s first company in Cyprus, which has since grown to become an iconic insurance solutions provider that now ranks number one in the MENA region. With a regional head office in Dubai, it has a powerful network of offices spanning Beirut, Limassol, Dubai, Jeddah, Khobar, London, Casablanca, Port Louis, Riyadh, Athens and Istanbul. Today, Chedid Capital includes Chedid Re, Chedid Insurance Brokers and Chedid Corporate Solutions. Now registered as a Lloyd’s broker, Chedid Re is recognised as one of the top 20 reinsurance brokers worldwide.
Chedid’s influential role in the insurance and reinsurance landscape also includes serving as the Chairman of Al Manarah Insurance services, one of UAE’s premier Insurance Brokers, as well as being the chairman and CEO of Chedid Insurance Brokers network, which is set to open soon in Abu Dhabi.
Chedid attributes the success of Chedid Capital to three indispensable pillars; a talented team, a clear and ambitious vision, and an unwavering commitment to deliver on promises. His outstanding achievements has led him to claim the Power 50 “most influential individual in the insurance industry in the Middle East and North Africa” title for ten years in a row, in addition to being named “Middle East and Africa Industry Achiever of the Year” in 2016.
Chedid is a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, a member of Human Rights Watch Beirut, a member of the board of trustees at Notre Dame University (NDU) Lebanon, a fellow of the Middle East Leadership Initiatives (MELI), a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN) and a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He holds a Master’s in Risk Management from NYU Stern School of Business, a Master’s in Finance from ESCP Europe; a Master’s in Management from Universite Paris IX Dauphine, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law from London Metropolitan University.
