Entering space is a whole new world for the UAE and requires an intelligent brain to lead such efforts. Enter Dr Mohammed Al Ahbabi, the director general of the UAE Space Agency and one of the most qualified national leaders within the space industry. Dr Al Ahbabi has said he firmly believes the development of the space programme will help diversify the UAE economy and raise awareness of the importance of space technologies, enhance national capabilities and encourage peaceful application of space research.
The Emirati, who holds a Master of Science and PhD in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and has advised the military and government on emerging concepts and technologies in the area of smart defence, cyber warfare and space developments. He is also a board member of YahSat Company, UAE University Council and the UAE ICT Fund.
