Over the past year BAM International, a subsidiary of Netherlands-based Royal Bam Group, has successfully completed the construction of a new port and a container terminal in Aqaba, Jordan, as well as the Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi.
It continues to build on its track record in Aqaba having recently picked up a $63.5mn design and construct contract to build the Aqaba New Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal.
Royal Bam Group has set its international subsidiary (Middle East, Asia Pacific, Australia, Africa) a target of doubling its turnover by 2015.
In a recent interview with Construction Week, Irishman McKinney said the blueprint for success in the GCC region is to have a geographically diverse portfolio of projects across a range of different parts of the market.
“We’re not there yet but we have many possibilities,” he said.
“If we can get that spread right we can see out any recessions, upturns, [or] downturns.”
McKinney was named area manager Middle East/Gulf States back in 2011 and he is based in BAM’s area office in Dubai.
