Qatar Building Co is emerging as one of the state’s main players in the construction market. The firm, which has been in business since 1971, is on the consortium building the major stations for the Doha Metro alongside Samsung C&T and Obrascon Huarte Lain.
More recently, the firm, which is run by managing director Ali Mustawafi, secured a deal with HBK Contracting for the final infrastructure package at Lusail City’s waterfront.
Qatar Building Company (QBC) comprises three divisions: civil engineering, materials production and construction equipment. It has more than 45 offices, workshops, plants, factories and showrooms, and is an advocate of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
In September, QBC won the CSR Initiative of the Year at the Construction Week Qatar Awards 2013. It was praised for a “well-planned” range of local community initiatives.
