Under Mohammed Al Rais, Hill International has continued to expand its operations in the region, with the Middle East responsible for 43% of the group’s $577mn revenues.

Towards the back end of last year it picked up a $54mn deal in Iraq from the Governorate of Basra to provide programme management services for its 2040 Strategic Plan. The one-year contract, renewable for a further two years, involves rehabilitation of existing infrastructure and the construction of new projects.

In Saudi Arabia, Hill International has been working with a number of government ministries including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health and the General Authority of Civil Aviation to train local staff and students on project management skills and procedures.

The firm remains heavily embedded in some of the GCC’s biggest projects including the Doha Metro, the Riyadh Metro, the expansion of Muscat International Airport, the construction of the new Salalah Airport, Jabal Omar in Saudi Arabia’s Holy City, Makkah, and on the King Faisal Medical City in Abha.

Al Rais has over 35 years’ experience in managing construction projects. Prior to his MD role, he headed Hill’s Abu Dhabi office.
