At the beginning of 2014, Philippe Dessoy was promoted as general manager of Besix Group, in the head office in Belgium, where he will be in charge specifically of all business development activities worldwide.
He was previously general manager of Middle East contractor Six Construct, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Besix, since 2007. Dessoy helped spur Six Construct into becoming one of the most competitive foreign firms in the region, having first moved over to Dubai in 1992.
Big contract wins in the last few years have helped grow the firm’s reputation, where it has worked on projects such as the recently-completed Cleveland Clinic, the new Yas Mall and the first phase of the $1bn Dubai Tram in time for its operation in November.
Dessoy told CW that Besix Group would remain firmly focused on the region: “The strategy for Besix is to remain focused on the GCC countries, develop the CIS countries and expand activities in Africa.”
