TAG Heuer has launched five limited edition timepieces inspired by the original Monaco 1969-1979 timepiece, which was first revealed at the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix in the late 1960s.
The watches mark the 50th anniversary of the timepiece, and will be successively revealed throughout this year.
Each of the five creations are inspired by the different decades from 1969 to 2019, and which feature decorative patterning Côtes de Genève on the watch’s movement.
The TAG Heuer Monaco was the first ever water-resistant square watch and the first to feature an automatic-winding chronograph movement, the Calibre 11. The new watches boast a modern version of the renowned movement.
One of the watches is presented on a brown leather strap with holes lined in light brown, the stainless-steel watch has been produced in an edition limited to only 169 pieces. Its green dial features brown and yellow shades, while the hands are coated with flourescent SuperLuminova (glow in the dark) material.
The caseback of the 1970s-inspired timepiece is engraved with the original “Monaco Heuer” logo as well as “1969-1979 Special Edition” and “One of 169”.
