Dubai Sports Council has approved a fitness center classification system which will grant star-ratings to gyms and fitness centers based on evaluation of a number of criteria including quality of devices, trainer qualifications, safety procedures and more.
Gyms and fitness centers following the evaluation will receive a rating up to five stars.
Dubai’s fitness sector gets quality boost
According to the announcement, the evaluation process is currently underway and will be finalised in the month of October.
The system includes 17 criteria and 82 sub-indicators based on which all fitness centers will be evaluated by specialised teams.
The outcomes of the classification system was approved during a meeting last month in a meeting chaired by Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC).
The system was developed by the sports council in collaboration with international fitness experts and aims to promote excellence in the city’s fitness sector and improve the quality of services offered.

The fitness center classification system underwent a review at the Middle East Fitness Summit held last October receiving a positive evaluation and enthusiastic response from over 1,000 specialists in the fitness field.
