Sony’s computer entertainment arm announced this week it will launch a 1TB edition of its flagship PlayStation 4 gaming console in the Middle East on 15 July, just in time for the Eid Al Fitr holiday.

The PS4 Ultimate Player Edition, will be available in UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, North Africa, Kenya and Nigeria, according to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE). No information on pricing is available yet.

Hard drive space on current PS4 models is 500GB, but a single game installation can eat up to 50GB. As the console approaches the end of its second year in service, early adopters who have opted for bulky role-playing games and open-world behemoths will have to frequently delete data to make way for new games.

Sony has sold around 20.2m PS4s as of 1 March this year, a number that will likely continue growing as game studios release hit-franchise sequels such as Batman: Arkham Knight, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Assassins Creed Syndicate and Fallout 4.
