Google has been teasing its first-ever watch for some time now, but it finally announced the Pixel Watch, which will feature a built-in Fitbit, alongside its Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones during an event in New York City on Thursday.

Pixel phones are fast gaining their own fan base, and the tech giant will hope that momentum carries with the launch of the 7 Series.

The Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel Watch will be launched on October 13.

Google acquired Fitbit for about $2.1 billion and has decided to embed its best health-tracking features into the new watch. The Pixel Watch features a custom-developed 3D coverglass that’s durable and scratch resistant, with three distinct jewelry-inspired stainless steel finishes in black, silver and gold.

Pixel Watch has been priced at $349.99 for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and $399.99 for 4G LTE.

Users can use Fitbit on the watch to track workouts, how well they slept, steps taken and more. If they have already used a Fitbit, it will sync right up with the existing app on their phone. The watch also comes with a six-month Fitbit Premium membership, which includes access to more than 200 workouts, offers information on how sleep and heart rate trends have changed over time and more.

The Pixel Watch only works with Android phones and it runs the company’s Wear OS software, which allows users to download apps from the Google Play Store. And it ties seamlessly into Google’s products such as Wallet, Gmail, Calendar and Google Home. Like Apple’s Series 8, it has Emergency SOS and Google says it will add fall detection later this year.

On the new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, Google said “it will take all the helpfulness and personal intelligence people love about Pixel, and make them even better”. It added that it has simplified the parts and construction to make the phones more sophisticated and distinct.

The phones are powered by the second-generation Google Tensor G2, the only processor that makes it possible to bring Google’s artificial intelligence and machine learning directly to the phone. They also have Pixel Call Assist, which is a new suite of features that helps with everything from making calls to avoiding them.

The Pixel phones are great for photography. It has an upgraded telephoto lens and features that can sharpen photos and shoot cinema-quality videos. They also provide fast, accurate voice assistance with Live Translate and Assistant voice typing.

The Pixel 7, with a 6.3-inch screen, will cost $599. Pixel 7 Pro will be priced at $899 and will come with up to 512GB storage. The Pro also has a better display with a sharper resolution and higher peak brightness outdoors.

Google had also revealed its plans to build an Android tablet powered by the custom Tensor G2 processor, and it will launch Pixel Tablet later this year. The new device is designed to be the last major piece of the Pixel family.

The system will run on Android, and Google says it has partnered with a number of key developers to design apps specifically for the larger screen. It pairs with a charging Speaker Dock to keep the device fully charged, and offers a terrific audio experience.
