Come December, ‘Mode Dubai’ – the new buzzword in fashion fusion, is set to take the city’s fashion world by storm with its first-ever consumer-focused event, showcasing a harmonious blend of premium never-before-seen global brands, alongside emerging local boutiques.
The event, slated for December 1-3, will see a range of haute couture by some of the top shots in the global fashion and beauty industry rubbing shoulders with emerging local boutiques to promote a fusion of diverse styles in the region.
“Mode Dubai aspires to go beyond being just another fashion event. It seeks to foster connections and collaborations, highlighting the richness of the fashion world, while simultaneously embracing the local talent within the UAE,” Tommy Lee, Managing Director, Modern Productions, which will be curating the event, told Arabian Business.
“Through this event, our aim is to create a hub of style, culture, and inspiration – a true celebration of fashion and beauty in all their forms,” he said.
Lee, whose team is currently travelling the world and curating a very specific edit of brands, said the inspiration behind launching this concept stemmed from the desire to bridge the gap between luxury and high-street fashion and bring newness to the UAE’s, especially the emirate’s, fashion market.
“After extensive research and focus groups, we found that there was an overwhelming desire to create an experience around shopping that is different to a mall and browsing online,” the Mode Dubai top honcho said.
Lee also revealed that he and his team are at Copenhagen Fashion Week “at the moment”, apparently looking for the latest designs and brands.
To make Dubai the new melting pot of cultures
Lee said Mode Dubai, conceived as an inclusive fashion event with the purpose of bringing together the melting pot of cultures in Dubai, will provide a platform for both renowned global brands that have been previously unavailable in the UAE and aspiring local boutiques from the region.
“By doing so, Mode Dubai aims to amplify the visibility of these fashion brands and promote a fusion of diverse styles within the region,” he said.
Lee said the event will also seamlessly integrate a wide spectrum of fashion elements, ranging from premium luxury wear, footwear, accessories, and jewellery, to offerings from the world of beauty.
Where luxury meets accessibility
Lee said by organising the event, he and his team envision to create a unique and inclusive fashion show that appeals to a diverse audience, while also providing unprecedented visibility and opportunities for both established and up-and-coming fashion entities.
“This aspiration to fuse luxury and accessibility drove us to bring the concept of Mode Dubai to life,” he revealed.
The Modern Productions’ top executive said the venture’s strategic choice of the UAE, particularly Dubai, stemmed from it being a thriving and nurturing market with a ‘glocal’ mindset that has significant growth potential.
“This aligns with our mission to bring transformation to the fashion industry and how individuals shop.”
Lee said Dubai is also the region’s fashion capital, and the segment is growing as a result of the rising number of new residents, tourists, accelerating e-commerce and strong appreciation of experiential shopping.
“Mode Dubai, a curated platform, aims to bridge the gap between industry titans and everyday enthusiasts, enabling us to uplift both established and emerging brands.
“Not only will individuals be able to walk the entire show floor and discover newness, but our catwalks will also be entirely shoppable, bridging high fashion with accessible commerce,” Lee said.
