As the Holy Month of Ramadan approaches, a survey commissioned by Audi Abu Dhabi reveals that 60 percent of UAE residents are considering purchasing a new or used car during this peak season for car purchases.
The survey was conducted in partnership with YouGov and polled over 1,000 UAE residents aged 18-50 years old.
Of those considering a new vehicle, petrol cars remain the most popular option at 33 percent, followed by 13 percent considering an electric vehicle (EV) and 14 percent who remain undecided.
The survey also shows a growing interest in EVs, with 52 percent of respondents indicating a desire to buy an EV as their next car or within the next three years.
However, concerns around charging infrastructure and understanding the total cost of ownership are holding some potential buyers back.
Audi Abu Dhabi General Manager, Mark Austin, commented on the findings, stating that the rapid increase in EV adoption in the UAE aligns with the country’s plans for sustainability.
“The rapid increase in the adoption of EVs in the region aligns with the country’s plans for sustainability,” Austin said, adding that “the potential customers looking to buy EVs in the near future is significant, with their adoption helping to fast-track and contribute to the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 initiative.”
The dealership will soon add the new Audi Q8 e-tron, Audi’s top-of-the-line electric SUV model, to its range of electric vehicles.
