Dubai Crown Prince orders 6 Bond-style amphibious cars

The US-made vehicles can hit 60mph on the water and cost $135,000 each

Dubai’s Crown Prince has ordered six James Bond-style high-speed amphibious cars which are designed to travel on sand and water, the US-based inventor of the vehicles has claimed.

Dave March, owner of WaterCar in California has been designing, building and testing amphibious cars for a decade and in 2010 secured the Guinness World Record for the fastest amphibious car.

His latest model, the Python has a 450-horsepower Corvette engine and can hit 60 miles per hour on the water was launched last year, retails for around $135,000.

March said he has been inundated with orders and claimed Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum had put down a deposit to buy six, the Orange County Register newspaper reported.

The report claimed the royal made the order after seeing a video of the cars March posted online.
